Project objectives
- Decrease mortality by 30% in target elasmobranch species in the MAR through a reduction in harmful fishing methods and improvements in elasmobranch monitoring and management, and enforcement of regulations;
- Leverage a measurable reduction in the consumption of shark products throughout the MAR;

- Create a conservation ethos promoted by public awareness efforts on shark and ray vulnerability, with a focus on threatened hammerheads;
- Launch the use of standardized shark and ray monitoring methods in four countries that will permit cross-comparison of results between sites and a regional image of the status of elasmobranchs, notably hammerheads.
