Project

Understanding Critical Conservation Sites for the Andean Condor

Duration
2022 - 2023
Location
Bolivia
Species protected
Andean Condor Vultur gryphus

Project objectives

This research project aims to use drone footage in the southern Tropical Andes in order to identify the key factors that influence how condors occupy roosts and use foraging areas. These can be factors such as human disturbance and environmental conditions. Understanding these factors are ultimately essential for their conservation, and will lead to improved conservation action strategies.

This research project is implemented by Diego Méndez, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Aves Rapaces en Bolivia – Research Program.
